Nurturing Resilience, Month 2: Cultivate Gratitude

In March, I introduced you to a method of building resilience that makes a lot of sense to me. It involves cultivating tiny habits that can make a significant impact on our overall resilience (rather than trying to make big changes all at once). If the small habits are repeated consistently, they can create positive behavioral changes.

Last month I shared a first tiny habit that you can focus on. This month, I share the next evidence-supported practice that helps build resilience: gratitude.

Cultivate Gratitude

If you would like to have some of these benefits, here is a simple practice you can start.

Maintaining a gratitude journal is a tiny habit that can have a profound impact on our well-being. At the end of each day, jot down three things you are grateful for. This simple act shifts your focus toward the positive aspects of your work and life, fostering a mindset of gratitude that can be a buffer against the effects of stress. I have coached teams to start each meeting with everyone sharing a win since the last time the group was together; same purpose: shifting our brain to not forget about the good stuff!

You will be amazed at the power of this tiny habit!
