Announcing the Change from Fundamentals to Preservice Caseworker Academy

CWTS is working on a newly redesigned Preservice Caseworker Academy, which will replace the current Fundamentals of Child Welfare Practices series for new caseworkers. This is a required learning experience based on Volume 7 requirements that must be completed before seeking initial certification as a caseworker.

Here are some of the changes you can expect to the design:

  • Register for a single six-week course rather than seven separate courses
  • Every week has a consistent schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30AM to 3:00PM
  • Skills practice and observation time is utilized throughout the course to build skills and practice in a learning environment (these replace separate simulations)
  • New quick guides link caseworkers to Volume 7 and best practices
  • Seamless integration of major legislative and practice changes since 2016
  • Uses current virtual learning design standards
  • Hotline workers will have their own required learning experience: Preservice Hotline Worker Academy

Note: Transfer of Learning Activities are unchanged
