Welcome, Mandatory Reporters!

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE

This training will have scheduled maintenance on Monday, March 23. This training does not save your progress. You may experience issues if you start this training and do not complete it by March 22.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about your responsibilities as a mandatory reporter of child abuse and neglect.

Mandatory reporters typically complete this training annually. However, training requirements may vary by agency and jurisdiction, so be sure to check with your requesting organization for completion requirements. Both English and Spanish versions of the training are available.

Not sure if you are a mandatory reporter? Visit the CO4Kids website to see the full list of mandatory reporters in Colorado.

UPDATE: August 28, 2025

The Mandatory Reporter Training WBT is newly redesigned and updated to align with changes to Colorado’s mandatory reporting laws in 2025. Not only does the new training help you understand the changes to the law, but it also provides more decision-making scenarios to help clarify your role, including distinguishing between neglect and poverty, mitigating our personal biases, and determining reasonable cause to suspect child maltreatment. Even if you have years of experience as a mandatory reporter, approaching this training with fresh eyes can only improve how Colorado’s communities support each other.

This training will take about two hours to complete. Your progress will not be saved, so plan to complete the training in one sitting.

Upon completion, you will need to save or print your certificate. Certificates are not saved in the system. You will need to retake the entire training if you need to reissue your certificate at a later date. If you are a child welfare employee or foster parent who needs to take this course for certification and you already have a child welfare account in the CWTS LMS, log in to your account to complete the training.

CWTS does not issue training credit hours for this course.

Se realizaron cambios significativos a las leyes para denunciantes obligatorios en Colorado en 2025. Actualmente se están revisando las versiones en español de esta capacitación. A continuación, encontrará un resumen de los cambios a la ley para su referencia.
